Product details

The Pentair LA39534 is the front housing volute for the Letro new style booster pump, supplied with a 3/4 inch drain plug port. It is molded in plastic to match the original housing.

What the volute does

The volute is the front half of the pump casing. Water enters it, the impeller spins inside it, and the shaped passage turns that spin into the pressure that drives a pressure side cleaner. Because it is the part holding that pressure, it is also the part that shows a crack first.

When it needs replacing

A booster pump that weeps at the front, or that loses pressure no matter how many seals go into it, usually has a failed housing. A hairline crack opens under load and closes again when the pump stops, which is what makes it hard to spot on a bench. Once the sealing face is damaged, no o-ring will make up the difference.

While it is apart

The volute o-ring is a separate part and belongs in the same order. Check the drain plug and its washer at the same time, since both live in the same water path.

Which booster pump does this fit?
The Letro new style booster pump. Older style housings use a different volute, so confirm which version you have before ordering.
Does the drain plug come with it?
The volute is listed with a 3/4 inch drain plug port. Check the plug and its washer while the housing is off and replace them if either is damaged.
Is the o-ring included?
No. The volute o-ring is a separate part, and it is worth fitting a new one any time the front housing is removed.
Why replace the volute rather than reseal it?
Once the housing itself is cracked or the sealing face is chewed up, no gasket or o-ring will hold pressure against it. The housing has to be replaced.
