The Sta-Rite L1-25P21 is the diffuser for the CK series pool pump. It is the genuine Sta-Rite part.
What the diffuser does
The diffuser sits over the impeller inside the pump housing. Water thrown off the impeller has speed but little pressure until the diffuser channels it, and that conversion is what gives the pump its head. It also seals the high pressure side of the impeller from the suction side.
When to change it
A diffuser that has cracked, worn open at the impeller eye, or lost its seat lets water loop back inside the pump. The pump sounds fine but moves noticeably less water. Because the pump has to come apart to reach the diffuser, check the shaft seal and gaskets at the same time.
