The Pentair R172439 is the control valve for the Rainbow HC Series high capacity automatic chemical feeders, covering the HC-3315, HC-3330 and HC-3340. It is the genuine Pentair replacement.
What it controls
The control valve meters the water routed through the feeder body. That flow is what erodes the tablets, so the valve setting is what actually decides how much sanitizer the feeder puts into the pool. When the valve seizes, cracks or leaks, you lose that control: the feeder either runs wide open regardless of the setting or stops feeding altogether.
Fitting
It is a direct replacement for the original valve on an installed HC Series feeder. Shut the feeder down and relieve the pressure before you open it, and check the seals and the lid o-ring while the unit is apart, since they age at the same rate as the valve.
