Product details
The Hayward Pro-Grid is a vertical grid diatomaceous earth filter, and this is the 48 sq. ft. size with a 120 GPM residential flow rate. It is built for inground pools, inground spas and pool and spa combinations, and Hayward positions the 48 sq. ft. model for both commercial work and large residential pools. The valve is not included.
How it is built
The tank is reinforced thermoplastic, chosen to hold up to hard duty and harsh conditions including in floor cleaning systems. A heavy duty tamper proof one piece flange clamp holds the top and bottom together and lets you open the filter without disturbing the piping. Inside, high impact grid elements are laid out for up flow filtration and top down backwashing, and an inlet diffuser elbow spreads unfiltered water and fresh D.E. evenly across all of the grids. Plumbing is 2" full flow throughout for less resistance.
Servicing
The tank top and bottom are self aligning, and the uniform low profile base with integral lift handles is there so the grid nest comes out in one piece rather than fighting you. A high capacity rapid release manual air relief valve bleeds trapped air with a quarter turn of the lever.
Choosing the valve
Because the valve is a separate purchase, decide on it with the filter. Hayward lists SP0740DE, the Selecta-Flo 2" SKT, and SP0710XR50, the Vari-Flo 1 1/2" NPT, as compatible, with SP0715XR50 in Vari-Flo 2" NPT and SP0410X5025 slide valve in 2" SKT as further options.
