The Sta-Rite 37447-0001L is the shaft sleeve for the CSPH and CCSPH commercial pool pumps. It is the genuine Sta-Rite part.
What the sleeve is for
The mechanical seal has to run against something, and whatever it runs against wears. Rather than let that happen to the motor shaft, these pumps carry a sleeve over the shaft as a sacrificial surface. When it grooves or scores, the sleeve comes off and a new one goes on, and the shaft is untouched.
Doing the job once
Reaching the sleeve means taking the pump apart, which is also what it takes to reach the mechanical seal, the impeller gasket and the retaining ring. Commercial pumps run long hours, so if the sleeve is worn the seal usually is too. Replacing both together is a great deal less work than doing them a month apart.
