Product details

The Hayward HPX2181 is the water pressure switch for HeatPro heat pumps. It is the genuine Hayward replacement part.

What it does

The heat pump will not run unless it knows water is moving through it. The pressure switch is what provides that proof. It is a safety, and it is doing its job when it stops a unit that has lost flow.

When it is the problem

The classic symptom is a heat pump that reports no flow while the filter pump is clearly running and the valves are open. Once you have ruled out a dirty filter, a closed valve and a clogged basket, the pressure switch itself is the next suspect. Shut off power and isolate the water before you take the old one out.

Which heat pumps does this fit?
Hayward HeatPro heat pumps. The parts groups list HP6003T, HP11003T, HP21003 and HP2100TC03T, and also HP2100, HP2100TC0, PE52A6TC0, HP1100, PE52A, HP600, PE42B2S and HPABGDLUXE.
What does the water pressure switch do?
It confirms there is water pressure through the heat pump. Without that confirmation the unit will not run, which protects it from firing with no flow.
My HeatPro says no flow but the pump is running. Is this the part?
It is one of the first things to check. A pressure switch that has failed reports no flow even when water is moving, and the heat pump stays locked out.
Is it a genuine Hayward part?
Yes. It is the Hayward OEM replacement, part HPX2181.
