Product details

The L176-47P is the back half of the tank body for the Sta-Rite PLBC series booster pump. It is the rear housing section that bolts to the front half and forms the pressure chamber the impeller runs in.

When it needs replacing

Booster pump housings fail from cracks, from erosion where flow is concentrated, and from mounting bosses that have pulled or split. Once the shell is compromised the pump loses pressure or weeps water, and no amount of resealing will hold it.

Fitment and naming

This is the back half for the PLBC series pump, model PLBC-178L. The part appears in manufacturer listings under both the Sta-Rite and the Pentair name using the same number, L176-47P, so either reference is the correct housing.

While it is apart

The two halves of the tank body seal against an o-ring. That seal takes a set once it has been compressed, so it should be renewed whenever the pump is opened rather than reused.
