The Hayward DEX4820BTC is the genuine upper filter body, supplied with its clamp system, for the Pro-Grid DE4820 48 square foot DE filter and the SwimClear C4020 and C4025 cartridge filters.

What you are buying

This is the top half of the filter tank, the part that carries the clamp system and closes onto the lower body. The lower body, the grids or cartridges and the internal plumbing are not included and stay with your existing filter.

When to replace it

Tank tops fail from age, sun and pressure cycling. A hairline crack that weeps only when the pump runs, a split at the clamp land, or a rim that has distorted enough that the clamp no longer pulls the halves together all mean the upper body is finished. Replacing it is far less work and expense than replacing a filter whose lower half is still perfectly sound.

Before you order

Read the model number off the filter label. The Pro-Grid and SwimClear ranges share several parts but each tank size uses its own upper body.

Does the clamp come with it?
Yes. Hayward supplies DEX4820BTC as the upper filter body together with its clamp system.
Will it fit my SwimClear?
It is listed for the SwimClear C4020 and C4025. Check your model number on the label before ordering, because the other SwimClear sizes use their own tank tops.
Is this the whole filter?
No. It is the upper half of the tank only. The lower body, grids or cartridges and the internal plumbing stay on your existing filter.
When does an upper body need replacing?
When it is cracked, weeping under pressure, or distorted enough that the clamp will not draw the halves together and hold a seal.
