What the basket does
Everything the skimmers and main drain pull in arrives at the pump, and the basket is what keeps leaves, twigs and grit from reaching the impeller. It is a consumable in practice: it gets lifted, knocked, packed full and emptied hundreds of times a season, and eventually the plastic goes brittle and a rim or a rib splits.
