Quick overview

  • Genuine Pentair Factory part 178562, the tank bottom rather than an aftermarket shell.
  • Sized by capacity It is the bottom for the 50 square foot and 44 GPM filter sizes.
  • Listed two ways The part is described for 44 GPM Warrior and 50 sq. ft. Clean and Clear filters, and it is also carried in the Predator cartridge filter parts listing.
  • Also an above ground listing It appears in the Pentair Clean and Clear above ground and EasyClean above ground DE filter system parts listings.
  • A structural part The bottom carries the pressure the whole tank sees, so cracks and crazing there are a replacement, not a repair.
  • Order by number Filter bottoms are size specific, so confirm 178562 against your filter parts listing before ordering.

Product details

The Pentair 178562 is the genuine OEM filter tank bottom for the 50 square foot and 44 GPM filter sizes. It is the lower half of the tank, the part everything else in the filter sits on.

Which filters it is listed for

The part is described as the bottom for 44 GPM Warrior and 50 square foot Clean and Clear filters. It is also carried in the Pentair Clean and Clear and Predator filter parts listing, in the Clean and Clear above ground pool filter system listing, and in the EasyClean above ground DE filter system listing. Both readings are given here, so match the number against the parts listing for your own filter before ordering.

Why you replace rather than repair

The tank bottom holds system pressure every minute the pump runs. Once it has cracked, crazed or been cross threaded at a fitting, patching it is not a real fix. A new bottom puts the tank back to a part rated for the pressure.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which filters is this bottom for?
It is the bottom for the 50 square foot and 44 GPM sizes. The part is described for 44 GPM Warrior and 50 sq. ft. Clean and Clear filters, and it is also listed in the Predator cartridge filter and EasyClean above ground DE filter parts listings.
Is this the whole tank?
No. It is the bottom half of the tank only. The lid, clamp, internals and element are separate parts.
Can a cracked filter bottom be patched?
It should not be. The bottom is under system pressure every time the pump runs, and a patched crack is a failure waiting to happen. Replace it.
How do I make sure it is the right size?
Order by part number. Filter bottoms are specific to the tank size, so check 178562 against the parts listing for your filter rather than measuring by eye.
