The Pentair 357150 is the black plastic cam and ramp clamp for the WhisperFlo pump. It is the ring that locks the strainer pot lid down, drawing it onto its o-ring as the clamp is turned.
Why it matters
Everything upstream of the impeller runs under vacuum. If the lid is not being pulled down evenly, the pump does not leak water, it draws air. That shows up as slow priming, an air pocket that will not clear from the strainer pot, a noisier pump and reduced flow. A clamp with a cracked ramp or a broken lug is a common and easily missed cause.

WhisperFlo pumps have been built with more than one lid arrangement over the years. This is the cam and ramp style, which pairs with the matching cam and ramp lid. Look at your pump before ordering rather than going by model name alone.
Fitting
Clean the sealing face, lubricate the lid o-ring with a pool rated silicone lubricant, and turn the clamp until it seats. It should draw down with hand pressure. If it takes force, something is not aligned.
