Quick overview

  • Genuine Hayward Factory part CX900DB, the bag Hayward specifies for the DE separation tank.
  • Complete bag assembly Supplied as the collector bag assembly rather than the bag fabric alone.
  • Catches the spent DE The bag is what holds the diatomaceous earth back so it does not go out with the backwash water.
  • The wear item in the tank The tank body lasts for years; the bag is the part that clogs, tears and gets replaced.
  • Direct swap Goes into an installed Hayward DE separation tank in place of the original.
  • Keeps the tank doing its job A torn bag lets DE straight through, which defeats the point of the separation tank.

Product details

The Hayward CX900DB is the genuine replacement collector bag assembly for the Hayward DE separation tank.

What the bag is for

A separation tank sits between a DE filter and the discharge line. When you backwash, the water carries spent diatomaceous earth into the tank, the bag traps the DE and clean water leaves. Everything the tank does depends on that bag staying intact.

When to replace it

The tank shell outlives several bags. The bag itself is the wear item: it loads up, seams give way, and it eventually tears. If DE is showing up in the discharge water, or the bag will barely pass water even after it has been emptied and rinsed, replace it. This is the Hayward OEM part, supplied as the complete bag assembly.
