Product details
The Hayward SPX2700M is the plastic strainer basket for Max-Flo II and Turbo Flo II pool pumps. It is the genuine Hayward part, molded to sit correctly in the pump trap so water is forced through the basket rather than around it.
What the basket is doing
Everything the skimmer misses arrives at the pump. The strainer basket is the last thing standing between leaves, twigs and hair and the impeller, and an impeller packed with debris loses flow fast and works the motor harder than it should.
When to change it
Baskets go brittle with sun and chemicals, then split along a wall or break away at the rim. The catch is that a cracked basket still looks like a basket, so if debris keeps turning up in the pump with the basket apparently in place, inspect it closely and change it.
