The leak this fixes
Water seeping around the pressure gauge adapter, or from the air relief when the system is running, is almost always a flattened or nicked o-ring rather than a failed fitting. Both of those seals live on the filter head and both are covered by this kit.
When to change them
The filter head has to come apart to reach them, so the sensible time is during a cartridge clean when the filter is already open. Two o-rings come in the pack, which covers both seals or leaves you a spare.
