Product details

The Pentair 355604Z is the impeller for the Challenger high pressure pump rated 2HP full rated, 2-1/2HP up rated. It is the genuine Pentair part for models built after 10/92.

Match the impeller to the pump

Challenger impellers are not interchangeable across the range. The high pressure build uses its own impeller and its own diffuser, and horsepower changes the impeller again within that build. Read the model and the horsepower from the pump label, and confirm the date of manufacture is after October 1992, before ordering.

What a worn impeller costs you

An impeller wears slowly. Vanes erode, the clearances open up, and the pump quietly loses head and flow long before anything breaks. If the filter and both baskets are clean and the pump still will not make the flow it used to, pull the impeller and look at the vanes.

While the pump is apart

The impeller threads onto the motor shaft, so changing it means opening the seal plate and exposing the mechanical seal. Fit a new seal at the same time rather than reusing the old one.

Which Challenger pumps does this impeller fit?
Challenger high pressure models rated 2HP full rated or 2-1/2HP up rated, built after 10/92.
How do I know if I have the high pressure model?
The high pressure Challenger uses its own impeller and diffuser. Check the pump model on the label, and match the impeller to the horsepower rating printed there before you order.
Should I replace anything else while I am in there?
The shaft seal. The impeller unthreads from the motor shaft to come off, so the mechanical seal is exposed anyway and is cheap to renew at the same time.
What are the signs of a worn impeller?
Falling flow and pressure with a clean filter and clean baskets, or visible wear and erosion on the vanes when the impeller is out.
