Challenger impellers are not interchangeable across the range. The high pressure build uses its own impeller and its own diffuser, and horsepower changes the impeller again within that build. What a worn impeller costs you
An impeller wears slowly. Vanes erode, the clearances open up, and the pump quietly loses head and flow long before anything breaks. If the filter and both baskets are clean and the pump still will not make the flow it used to, pull the impeller and look at the vanes.
While the pump is apart
The impeller threads onto the motor shaft, so changing it means opening the seal plate and exposing the mechanical seal. Fit a new seal at the same time rather than reusing the old one.
