Product details

The Pentair 355318Z is the genuine OEM strainer basket for Challenger pumps, including the hi head and high flow models. It is a molded plastic basket measuring 5-3/8 inches wide and 6-3/4 inches tall.

What the basket does

Everything the skimmer misses ends up here. The basket is the last thing standing between leaves, twigs and grit and the impeller, so a basket that has cracked, split or collapsed is not a cosmetic problem. Debris that gets past it lodges in the impeller and turns a five dollar part into a service call.

Check the size

Pump baskets look similar across brands and models. Measure before ordering: this one is 5-3/8 inches wide and 6-3/4 inches tall, and it is the Pentair part for the Challenger strainer pot.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What size is this basket?
5-3/8 inches wide and 6-3/4 inches tall.
Is it a genuine Pentair basket?
Yes. It is the Pentair OEM Challenger strainer basket, part number 355318Z.
Which pumps take it?
Pentair Challenger pumps, including the hi head and high flow models.
Does a cracked basket really need replacing?
Yes. A split or collapsed basket lets leaves and grit reach the impeller and can restrict flow, so it is not a part to nurse along.
