Product details

The Pentair 352602 is the lid o-ring for the 590, carried in the PacFab HydroPump 590 and 700 Series parts group. It is the genuine Pentair part.

Why the lid o-ring matters

The strainer pot lid sits on the suction side of the pump, so it is under vacuum rather than pressure while the pump runs. That means a bad seal here does not drip on the pad, it quietly pulls air into the system. The symptoms show up somewhere else: a pump that will not hold prime, air building in the top of the strainer basket, a wobbling pressure gauge or bubbles at the returns.

Fitting it

Wipe the groove and the lid face clean before the new o-ring goes in, then give it a light coat of silicone lubricant. A dry o-ring can roll or pinch as the lid comes down, which puts you straight back to the original problem, and it also tends to weld the lid on so the next basket clean becomes a fight.

My pump keeps losing prime. Could this be it?
It is the first thing to check. Air drawn past a hard, flattened or cracked lid o-ring will stop a pump holding prime even though nothing is visibly leaking, because the lid sits under suction rather than pressure.
Should I lubricate the new o-ring?
Yes, a light coat of silicone lubricant helps it seat evenly, keeps it from pinching under the lid, and makes the lid far easier to break loose next time.
