The Pentair 39006000 is the volute o-ring for the American Products Ultra-Flo pool pump. It is the genuine Pentair part, in rubber.

What the volute o-ring seals

The volute is the housing that surrounds the impeller and directs water out of the pump. Its o-ring keeps that joint sealed. Because the pump is under suction on the intake side, a seal that has flattened, hardened or picked up a nick lets air in rather than water out, and the symptom an owner sees is a pump that struggles to prime, holds air in the basket or runs noisily.

Replace it while you are in there

Getting to the volute means the pump is already apart. That is the moment to fit a fresh o-ring, along with any other seals in the kit, rather than reusing an old one and opening the pump again in a month.

Which pump does this fit?
The Pentair American Products Ultra-Flo pool pump.
Is this the lid o-ring?
No. This is the volute o-ring inside the pump. The locking lid o-ring is a separate part.
What is it made of?
Rubber.
My pump loses prime. Could this be it?
It can be. The volute o-ring is one of the seals that keeps the pump airtight on the suction side, and once it takes a set or gets nicked the pump draws air instead of water. Replace it while the pump is apart rather than chasing the leak twice.
