Product details

The Pentair 350166Z is the lid o-ring for EQ Series commercial pumps. It seals the lid on the hair and lint strainer pot. Pentair describes this part both as the lid o-ring and as the strainer lid gasket, so you may see it listed either way; the part number is the same.

The seal that keeps prime

Everything upstream of the impeller is under suction, which means a bad lid seal draws air rather than spilling water. That is why a leaking strainer lid rarely leaves a puddle and often shows up instead as air in the pot, a pump that loses prime, or falling flow. Replacing a hardened or flattened ring is usually the whole repair.

When to change it

Any time the lid comes off for a basket clean is a good moment to look at the ring. If it has taken a permanent set, cracked or gone stiff, replace it rather than dressing it and hoping. If the part you actually need is the lock ring seal instead, that is a separate Pentair number for the EQ Series.

Which pumps does this o-ring fit?
The Pentair EQ Series commercial pumps. It is the seal for the hair and lint strainer lid.
Is this an o-ring or a gasket?
Pentair lists 350166Z both ways, as a lid o-ring and as the strainer lid gasket. It is one part number either way.
Is this the same as the lock ring gasket?
No. Pentair sells a separate lock ring and lid gasket for the EQ Series, so check which seal you are replacing.
Why will my pump not hold prime?
On a strainer pot the lid seal is the first suspect. A ring that has hardened, flattened or cracked lets air in even when there is no visible water leak.
