Product details

The Pentair 475193Z is the titanium heat exchanger for UltraTemp pool heat pumps. It is the genuine Pentair part, listed for all UltraTemp models except the 70 on units built after January 2017.

Check the build date

Pentair changed the exchanger partway through the UltraTemp run, and this one covers units built after January 2017. The data plate on the unit carries the build date. Confirming it before ordering saves a return, because the earlier exchanger is a different part.

Why titanium

Pool water is hard on metal, and salted pool water is harder still. Titanium is what lets the exchanger sit in that water for the life of the heat pump without pitting or corroding through, which is why it is the standard material for a pool heat pump exchanger rather than the copper used in gas heaters.

Fitting

The exchanger is where refrigerant heat crosses into the pool water, so it sits on the sealed side of the machine. Replacing it means recovering the refrigerant, opening the circuit and recharging afterwards. Plan on a qualified technician for the work.
