What it seals
The seal plate closes off the back of the wet end, and this gasket is what keeps the joint between the plate and the housing watertight. It is a small part carrying a job that the whole pump depends on. When it hardens, cracks or takes a permanent set from years of compression, water finds the joint and weeps out at the back of the pump.
Fitting it
