Product details

Waterway 711-4290 is the seal plate gasket for SVL56 pool pumps. Waterway carries it under two names, seal plate gasket and seal plate O-ring, and both refer to this part.

What it seals

The seal plate closes off the back of the wet end, and this gasket is what keeps the joint between the plate and the housing watertight. It is a small part carrying a job that the whole pump depends on. When it hardens, cracks or takes a permanent set from years of compression, water finds the joint and weeps out at the back of the pump.

Fitting it

This gasket is normally replaced during a shaft seal or wet end service, because it is already off the pump at that point and reusing an old one is a false economy. A thin film of silicone O-ring lubricant helps it seat evenly and makes the next teardown cleaner.
