Why impellers get replaced
The impeller is the one part in the pump doing the work, and it fails quietly. Fine debris packs into the vane passages and never washes out. Sand and grit erode the vane edges until the impeller no longer grips the water properly. Either way the pump sounds the same but moves less, and the drop is usually blamed on the filter first.
