The Hayward SPX3200DLS is the strainer cover kit for TriStar pumps. It includes the cover, the lock ring and the lid O-ring, so the whole sealed top of the strainer pot gets renewed in one go.
Why the lid is worth taking seriously
The strainer cover is the biggest sealed joint on the suction side of the pump. Everything behind it is under vacuum while the pump runs, so any leak there pulls air rather than pushing water out. That is why a pump that will not hold prime, or that runs with a churning pot half full of air, so often turns out to be a lid problem.
Sun and chemistry
Clear covers cloud over and go brittle with years of sun and pool chemistry. Combined with an O-ring that has taken a set and a lock ring that no longer pulls down evenly, you get a joint that will not seal no matter how hard it is tightened. Replacing all three at once is the fix that lasts.
