Product details

The Hayward SPX2800AAC is the complete housing conversion kit for the Max-Flo 1800 and 2800 model pumps. It arrives as the housing plus the parts that go with it: strainer cover, gasket, basket, 2 round hand knobs and 2 swivel nuts.

When a housing has to be replaced

The strainer pot takes the abuse on a pool pump. Freeze damage, a cracked union boss or threads that have finally let go all end the same way, with a pot that will not hold vacuum. At that point no amount of sealant or new lid gaskets brings the prime back, because the leak is in the housing itself.

Why a kit rather than a housing

The pieces that fail alongside a housing tend to be the same ones every time: the lid gasket, the knobs and the swivel nuts on the unions. Supplying them together means the pump goes back together with new sealing surfaces rather than a new pot bolted to tired hardware.

What it does not cover

The motor, impeller and seal plate are separate parts. This kit is the wet end housing and the hardware around it.

What comes in the kit?

Do I need this or just a lid and gasket?
If the housing itself is cracked or the threads have failed, the whole kit is the fix. If the pot is sound and only the lid seal leaks, a gasket alone may be enough.
Does it include the motor or the seal plate?
No. This is the strainer housing assembly and its hardware. The motor, impeller and seal plate are separate parts.
