What unions do
Unions are the joints that let a pump be taken out of the system without cutting pipe. When they are in good condition, a pump swap or a seal job is a matter of loosening two nuts. When a union is cracked, cross threaded or has been overtightened, it will not seal again and the whole connection has to be replaced.
Before you order
Check whether the union body is actually damaged. A weeping union with a sound body is often just a tired o-ring, which is a cheaper fix. Replace the connector kit when the plastic itself has failed.
